Day 26 #30daysongchallenge A Song You Can Play On An Instrument:  (Don’t Fear) The Reaper ~ Blue Oyster Cult.

Cowbell, baby!!!!  (I don’t play a real instrument and the world is a better place for that)

Day 25 #30daysongchallenge A Song That Makes You Laugh:  Lazy Sunday ~ The Lonely Island ft. Chris Parnell

*giggles* Eating cupcakes and seeing The Chronicles of Narnia set to gangsta rap.  Hee-larious to me.  My favorite line pays homage to my history geek side by dropping in an Aaron Burr shoots Hamilton reference.  Oh, I do love me some Samberg LOL  (if you want to see a better vid, go to Hulu, tumblr hates those vids.  Bad form tumblr)

Lyrics

Lazy Sunday, wake up in the late afternoon.
Call Parnell just to see how hes doin.
Hello?
What up, Parns?
Yo Samberg, whats crackin?
You thinking what Im thinkin?
NARNIA.
Man, its happenin.
But first my hunger pains are stickin like duct tape.
Lets hit up Magnolia and mack on some cupcakes.
No doubt that bakerys got all da bomb frostins.
I love those cupcakes like McAdams loves Gosling.
Two, no six, no twelve, BAKERS DOZEN.
I told you that Im crazy for these cupcakes, cousin.
Yo, wheres the movie playin?
Upper west side, dude.
Well, lets hit up Yahoo Maps to find the dopest route.
I prefer Map Quest.
Thats a good one, too.
Google Maps is the best.
True that.
DOUBLE TRUE.
68th and Broadway.
Step on it, sucka.
What you wanna do, Chris?
SNACK ATTACK, MOTHERFUCKER
Its the Chronic (what?)
Cles of Narnia
Yes, the Chronic (what?)
Cles of Narnia
We love that Chronic (what?)
Cles of Narnia
Pass that Chronic (what?)
Cles of Narnia
Yo, stop at the deli.
The theaters over-priced.
Youve got the backpack?
Gonna pack it up nice.
Dont want security to get suspicious.
Mr. Pibb and Red Vines equals CRAZY DELICIOUS!
Ill reach in my pocket, pull out some dough.
Girl actin like she never seen a $10 before.
Its all about the Hamiltons, baby.
Throw the snacks in a bag and Im ghost like Swayze.
Roll up to the theater.
Ticket buying, what were handlin.
You can call us Aaron Burr.
From the way were droppin Hamiltons.
Now parked in our seats.
Movie trivias the illest.
Which Friends alum starred in films with Bruce Willis?
We answered so fast it was scary
Everyone stared in awe when we screamed Matthew Perry.
Now quiet in the theater or its gonna get tragic.
Were bout to get taken to a dream world of magic with
the Chronic (what?)
Cles of Narnia
Yes, the Chronic (what?)
Cles of Narnia
We love that Chronic (what?)
Cles of Narnia
Pass that Chronic (what?)
Cles of Narnia

Day 24 #30daysongchallenge A Song You Want Played At Your Funeral:  What A Wonderful World ~ Louis Armstrong

I thought all day about this one and this song sums up perfectly what I want people to remember me by and how I lived my life.  Life sure does suck sometimes but I will still consider myself truly blessed to have lived it.  I have amazing friends, family and memories; I just hope they remember me with a smile.  Of course, I expect many drunken eulogies (that’s a given), but hopefully this would make them smile.  I’d consider it my last big group hug.  I’m a hugger, what can I say ;)

Honorable Mentions:

Friends In Low Places ~ Garth Brooks (heh)

Bye, Bye Baby ~ Bay City Rollers

Love Will Keep Us Alive ~ The Eagles (dedicated to my boys, of course)

Lyrics:

I see trees of green, red roses too
I see them bloom for me and you
And I think to myself what a wonderful world.

I see skies of blue and clouds of white
The bright blessed day, the dark sacred night
And I think to myself what a wonderful world.

The colors of the rainbow so pretty in the sky
Are also on the faces of people going by
I see friends shaking hands saying how do you do
They’re really saying I love you.

I hear babies cry, I watch them grow
They’ll learn much more than I’ll never know
And I think to myself what a wonderful world
Yes I think to myself what a wonderful world.

Day 23 #30daysongchallenge A Song You Want (Was) Played At Your Wedding:  I Will Be Here ~ Steven Curtis Chapman

Jon actually picked this song out for us.  It was played at his brother’s wedding and he said that he loved it so much that he wanted it played at ours.  It really is a beautiful song.  The first time I heard the lyrics, I cried a little.  We wound up using it as our first dance and to this day, when we hear it, we dance a little <3

Lyrics:

Tomorrow mornin’ if you wake up
And the sun does not appear
I…I will be here

If in the dark we lose sight of love
Hold my hand and have no fear
‘Cause I…I will be here

I will be here…
When you feel like bein’ quiet
When you need to speak your mind
I will listen
And I will be here
When the laughter turns to cryin’
Through the winnin’ and losin’ and tryin’
We’ll be together
‘Cause I will be here

Tomorrow mornin’ if you wake up
And the future is unclear
I…I’ll be here

Just as sure as seasons are made for change
Our lifetimes are made for years
I…I will be here

I will be here….
You can cry on my shoulder
When the mirror tells us we’re older
I will hold you

And I will be here
To watch you grow in beauty
And tell you all the things you are to me
I will be here

I will be true
To the promise I have made
To you and to the
One who gave you to me

I…I will be here

And just as sure as seasons are made for change
Our lifetimes are made for years
‘Cause I…
I will be here….
We’ll be together

‘Cause I will be here

Day 22 #30daysongchallenge A Song You Work Out To:  SexyBack ~ Justin Timberlake ft. Timbaland.

How could this not be a good motivator! The beat falls right in line with my desperate gasps of breath while the elliptical machine makes punishes me for that eclair.  Oh yes, this is a great workout song because when I bounce around for fitness; I’m bringing sexy back.  Yep, I went there.

Honorable Mentions:

Bad Romance ~ Lady Gaga

All I Really Want ~ Alanis Morissette

Promiscuous ~ Nelly Furtado

Let Go ~ David Cook

Day 21 #30daysongchallenge A Song You Listen To When You’re Driving:  A Daily AntheM ~ David Cook

This is my motivational going to work song, lol.  I also enjoy the rolling down the windows, blasting it and singing out of key aspect of it (and by out of key, I mean me!).  Great song, one of my favs from DCTR :)

Lyrics:

Break your neck for some substance
This is temporary sanity, an exercise in vanity
So long to the ordinary day
Wrought with fictitious tales of how there’s any other way
Hold on to anything at all
It’s a long way down between the summer and the fall
If I told you that you’re everything
Would you sing along?
Would you sing along?

It’s a daily anthem
Would you sing my song at the top of your lungs
And we’ll all sing along, we’ll all sing along
It’s a half-faith blessing
For the lessons I’ve learned and never deserved
And we’ll all sing along, we’ll all sing along

Now the verses take hold
A gentle undercurrent of more years to grow old
Say goodbye to the cold
And try to forgive
Everything this night, as we sing your

Daily Anthem
Would you sing my song at the top of your lungs
And we’ll all sing along, we’ll all sing along
It’s a half-faith blessing
For the lessons I’ve learned and never deserved
And we’ll all sing along, we’ll all sing along

Oh, oh, oh, oh (repeat

Day 20 #30daysongchallenge A Song You Listen To When You’re Angry:  Minority ~ Green Day

This song is oddly cheerful for a “f*ck the establishment” anthem but I think that is why I like it.  I’m not an angry person but when I am, this is  great song to sing at the top of my lungs and dance it out!  I’ll sum this up by posting the lyrics :)

Lyrics:

(chorus)
i want to be the minority
i dont need your authority
down with the moral majority
‘cause i want to be the minority

i pledge allegiance to the underworld
one nation under dog
there of which i stand alone
a face in the crowd
unsung, against the mold
without a doubt,
singled out
the only way i know

*chorus*

stepped out of the line
like a sheep runs from the herd
marching out of time
to my own beat now
the only way i know
one light, one mind
flashing in the dark
blinded by silence of a thousand broken hearts
“for cryin out loud” she screamed unto me
a free for all
fuck ‘em all
“you are your own sight”

*chorus*

Day 19 #30daysongchallenge A Song From Your Favorite Album.  I’m going to avoid the expected and take a step back to when I was a wee lass and first heard U2’s The Joshua Tree.  At first I thought that perhaps they were bleh, I mean they were no NKOTB ya know!  Thing is, as I really listened I kinda of fell in love with the concept of music that did not require glow sticks or choreography.  Oh, and matching outfits…that was important.  When I got into high school, I really became a fan and bought this CD with earnings from my first job at TJ Cinnamons.  Not too long after, I asked for just about the entire U2 catalogue but my mom settled for the Best Of tape because it was, well, cheaper :)  Either way, The Joshua Tree still ranks as one of my all time favorite albums.  One of my favorite songs?  Well, y’all know what it is ;)

Lyrics:  I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For

I have climbed highest mountains
I have run through the fields
Only to be with you
Only to be with you
I have run
I have crawled
I have scaled these city walls
These city walls
Only to be with you

But I still haven’t found what I’m looking for
But I still haven’t found what I’m looking for

I have kissed honey lips
Felt the healing in her fingertips
It burned like a fire
This burning desire

I have spoke with the tongue of angels
I have held the hand of a devil
It was warm in the night
I was cold as a stone

But I still haven’t found what I’m looking for
But I still haven’t found what I’m looking for

I believe in the Kingdom Come
Then all the colors will bleed into one
Bleed into one
But yes I’m still running

You broke the bonds
And you loosed the chains
Carried the cross
Of my shame
Oh my shame
You know I believe it

But I still haven’t found what I’m looking for
But I still haven’t found what I’m looking for
But I still haven’t found what I’m looking for

Day 18 #30daysongchallenge A Song You Wish You Heard on the Radio:  Straight Ahead ~ David Cook

I love this song, love the lyrics, love the CD.  If there were more songs like this, maybe I would listen to the radio more often.  It just gets so tiresome hearing the same, auto-tuned drivel from people that are propped up by mega producers and image consultants.  Call me crazy, but I like original and honest.

Lyrics:

I’ve got questions for you
You’ve got answers untrue
I can walk these circles all night long
Take a pill and sleep off
Everything you can think of
Walking all these circles to a song
Could you play me something new?

So take a minute just to breathe
And think of everything you wanted
And what you got instead
Is it a labor just to see
Around the left, the right, over my head
To straight ahead

Find a new way to feel right
Between this time a fistfight
I can read the circles ‘round your eyes
This is life, this is no rhyme
Find a beat, find the right time
To organize the circles to a song
Could you play me something new?

So take a minute just to breathe
And think of everything you wanted
And what you got instead
Is it a labor just to see
Around the left, the right, over my head
To straight ahead, yeah

So take a minute just to breathe
And think of everything you wanted
And what you got instead

So take a minute just to breathe
And think of everything you wanted
And what you got instead (what you got instead)
Is it a labor just to see
Around the left, the right, over my head
To straight ahead, yeah

Day 17 #30daysongchallenge A Song You Often Hear on the Radio: Ooooh, tough one since I don’t really listen to the radio much.  When I do listen, I usually hit up the local Alternative station in KC.  I like them well enough, but they do play the Red Hot Chili Peppers all the freaking time.  I took a poll from a few friends and my dearest husband and came up with a few other top contenders:

Amazing ~ Bruno Mars

King of Anything ~ Sara Bareillis
